Great to see the BBC News coverage of Sheriffhales Community Energy:
Sheriffhales’ 3.2MW solar farm has the capacity to generate 984,000 kWh of renewable electricity – enough to power 825 homes each year. The solar farm was developed by a commercial developer and acquired into full community ownership earlier this year following a refinancing involving a long-term loan from Triodos Bank and a community bond offer. CfR managed the refinancing transaction on behalf of the board of local volunteer directors. CfR also manages the day to day running of the solar farm and community enterprise.
The not-for-profit community benefit society has already given out over £150,000 for village projects including supporting the village church and primary school, energy efficiency, community transport and supporting the community’s response to the Covid 19 crisis.
