CfR is pleased to announce the successful close of the Solar for Silverwood share offer, which reached its £500,000 target last week.
Managed by CfR on behalf of Wiltshire Wildlife Community Energy’s (WWCE) volunteer board and delivered by WWCE, the project installed over 1,000 solar panels on the roof of Silverwood School’s Rowde campus. This newly redeveloped £38 million net-zero building will support children and young people with special educational needs.
CfR was contracted by WWCE to provide technical and commercial support throughout the process, including financial modelling, due diligence and managing the crowdfunding launch via Ethex.
The project will generate clean, green electricity to power the school in Rowde, near Devizes, with any surplus electricity exported to the grid. Through its charitable fund, WWCE has also committed to providing a £5,000 annual contribution to support biodiversity projects and environmental education at the school. It’s an incredible project and CfR is proud to have supported WWCE in bringing it to life.
Communities for Renewables (CfR) is a mission-led community interest company that helps communities, public sector bodies, and non-profits develop, finance and manage their own renewable energy generation. We have helped local energy enterprises raise over £60 million to deliver more than 35 MW of community solar capacity — from school rooftops to one of the UK’s largest community-owned solar farms.
